Delve-into-Pneumocystis supports international symposium on Pneumocystis and the respiratory microbiome in Wroclaw
COST Action CA23142 Delve-into-Pneumocystis was represented at the international symposium “Pneumocystis and microbiome: challenges and perspectives in respiratory tract medical management”, held at Wroclaw Medical University, Poland, on 28 September 2026. Three members of the Action shared their expertise on Pneumocystis reservoirs and epidemiology and on emerging perspectives in lung microbiome research.
Members of COST Action CA23142 Delve-into-Pneumocystis participated in the international symposium “Pneumocystis and microbiome: challenges and perspectives in respiratory tract medical management”, held at Wroclaw Medical University, Poland, on 28 September 2026.
The symposium brought together international expertise in Pneumocystis research and the respiratory microbiome, providing a multidisciplinary perspective on current challenges and emerging research directions in respiratory health.
The scientific programme featured three members of Delve-into-Pneumocystis: Prof. Sergio L. Vargas, University of Chile, who presented “The puzzling reservoir of Pneumocystis”; Prof. Barbara Królak-Olejnik, Wroclaw Medical University, who addressed “Do we know the epidemiology of Pneumocystis jirovecii?”; and Prof. Fabien Magne, University of Chile, who presented “Exploring the lung microbiome: from environmental exposures to the gut-lung axis”.
The symposium provided an excellent opportunity for scientific exchange, linking key questions in Pneumocystis epidemiology and transmission with the rapidly evolving field of respiratory microbiome research.
Through the participation of its members in scientific meetings across Europe and beyond, CA23142 Delve-into-Pneumocystis continues to promote international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and dissemination of research on Pneumocystis and associated respiratory diseases.
