STSM on Pneumocystis diagnostics carried out in the laboratory of Dr. Marta Kicia
Doloresa Mullaliu, Clinical Microbiologist from Durrës, Albania, completed a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) on Pneumocystis diagnostics, focusing on the use of PCR and Nested PCR techniques to improve molecular detection methods.
A member of COST Action CA23142, Doloresa Mullaliu, has recently completed a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) focused on the molecular diagnostics of Pneumocystis spp. in the laboratory of Dr. Marta Kicia, Vice Chair of the Action and researcher at the University of Wroclaw (Poland).
During her stay, Doloresa Mullaliu worked on molecular diagnostic methods for the detection of Pneumocystis spp., applying and refining Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Nested PCR techniques.
STSMs are a key activity within the Delve-into-Pneumocystis COST Action, offering PhD students and researchers the opportunity to spend up to six months in laboratories across participating countries. These exchanges aim to share techniques, gain new skills, and build collaborations that strengthen the network’s collective expertise.
Doloresa’s mission reflects the spirit of collaboration and training that drives COST Action CA23142, advancing knowledge in Pneumocystis diagnostics and fostering scientific growth among early-career researchers.
