Training School on Digital PCR for the Diagnosis of Pneumocystis
The Training School on Digital PCR for the Diagnosis of Pneumocystis, held in Wrocław (Poland) from 27-29 August 2025, offered participants theoretical and practical training in advanced molecular techniques for the accurate diagnosis of Pneumocystis infections.
A Training School on Digital PCR (dPCR) for the Diagnosis of Pneumocystis was held in Wrocław, Poland, from 27 to 29 August 2025, under the framework of COST Action CA23142 Delve-into-Pneumocystis.
The event combined theoretical sessions and intensive hands-on workshops designed to familiarise participants with digital PCR technology and its application in the molecular diagnosis of Pneumocystis infections. The programme covered topics such as reaction setup, droplet generation, data analysis, interpretation of results, and detection of rare events, providing participants with both conceptual understanding and practical experience.
The course was led by Małgorzata Chłopek and Angelika Odej (Świętokrzyskie Centrum Onkologii, Poland) and Vicente Friaza (Institute of Biomedicine of Seville, Spain).
The Training School was attended by 13 researchers from five European countries, including early-career scientists from several Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITCs), in line with the COST Action’s emphasis on capacity building and inclusiveness.
This event significantly enhanced participants’ technical skills in digital PCR, promoted networking and collaboration across institutions, and supported the development and validation of advanced molecular tools for Pneumocystis diagnosis.
Feedback from participants was highly positive, highlighting the balance between theory and practice, the quality of instruction, and the opportunities for discussion and knowledge exchange.
